Environmental Effects Monitoring
Client: Halifax International Airport Authority

East Coast Aquatics designed an Environmental Effects Monitoring (EEM) program for the client to meet their regulatory requirements. Water chemistry sampling and analysis, fish toxicity testing, and macroinvertebrate sampling and analysis were undertaken at five stream locations. The results were evaluated, and a final report written on the state of these aquatic sites. The use of control sites, Canadian Water Quality Guidelines for the Protection of Aquatic Life, benthic invertebrate evaluation indices, scientific literature review, and other comparative data helped East Coast Aquatics provide discussion and recommendations relating to the productivity and quality of the sampled systems, and the future direction of the EEM program.
