Fish Surveys
Client: Acadia University – Estuarine Center

East Coast Aquatics worked with the Acadia Centre for Estuarine Research to complete an assessment of the St. Croix and Halfway River systems in Hants and Kings Counties, Nova Scotia. Site selection and physical parameters were conducted prior to carrying out a three-pass electrofishing survey on nineteen sites. Fourteen different streams were assessed at three times during the year to document fish use at different flow levels and seasonal periods. Fish caught were identified, weighed, and measured prior to live release. Applicable water quality measures were recorded, and a late summer low flow evaluation of all sites was completed to document high temperatures and low discharge. Raw data and photo documentation were provided to the client for incorporation into the final reporting.
